Tips for Temps

We require the following paperwork in order for you to temp through Lavender Jones:

  1. Temp Personal Details and Bank Form (we pay directly into your bank account 1 week following your assignment).
  2. P45/P46 (you need to get your P45 from your previous employer. If you are unable to get a P45 you will need to fill out a P46).
  3. Temp Contract
  4. Timesheet (Please fill in at the end of the week or the assignment. Total up your hours noting how long you took for lunch. Timesheets can be emailed to info@lavenderjones.co.uk).
  • Stay in touch with us on a weekly basis. If possible, call us on a Monday with your availability for that week.
  • Inform us if you have accepted a permanent position and are therefore no longer available.
  • Dress code – we will inform you of the suitable attire/dress code for each assignment. The majority of assignments require a smart dress code.
  • Arrive 10 minutes early for your assignment, but no longer.
  • Make sure you know exactly where you are going and have figured out how to get there and how long the journey takes (citymapper.com is a useful website/app to help with journey planning).
  • Check that there are no delays on your chosen method of transport (check on tfl.gov.uk).
  • If you are running late, inform Lavender Jones so we can let the client know.
  • If you feel unwell, inform us by 8.30am so that we can provide a replacement.
  • Research the firm you will be temping at and make yourself familiar with the job description.
  • Make sure you know who to report to.
  • Make sure you send your time sheet to your temp consultant and that it is signed by a member of staff. This should either be on a Friday afternoon before leaving work or on the last day of your assignment if this happens to be on another day.
  • Update your CV with the relevant information from each temp assignment.
  • Show initiative and be proactive. Don’t wait for work to be given to you. Ask if you can help with anything if you are not given any tasks.
  • Do not use your phone during office hours and do not use the internet for personal reasons. Make sure your phone is switched off or on silent during office hours.
  • When interviewing for permanent roles please try to keep these interviews to first or last thing or lunchtimes in order to limit disruption to your temp assignment.
